Tulsa, Okla. – New Mexico senior Graeme Kassautzki defeated Florida State’s Clint Bowles, 6-4, 6-1, today to enter the main draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa. Bowles is ranked 47th in the ITA pre-season singles polls.
Kassautzki won three straight qualifying matches to notch one of the 16 qualifying spots in the 64-man main draw, beginning Thursday, Oct. 9.
Senior Johnny Parkes fell short of joining Kassutzki, losing 6-4, 6-1 to Stanford’s Bradley Klahn.
The Lobos have been eliminated from doubles play. After the duo of seniors Miles Bugby and Parkes won in the first round, 8-2, the two fell 9-7 in the second round. Joe Wood and Graeme Kassuatzki couldn’t make it past the first round, losing 8-5.
The Lobos will host the UNM Balloon Fiesta Invite this weekend, Oct. 10-12. Action begins Friday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m., at the Lobo Tennis Complex.
