After a four hour long match senior Ola Abou-Zerky lost the tournament final to Annette Aksdale of Denver. The match was back and forth for the first two sets. Abou-Zerky was up 5-2 in the third set when Aksdale came back for the win.
“She let it get away from her,” associate head coach Roy Cañada said. “(Abou-Zerky) was up 5-2 and the other girl played well, you’ve gotta hand it to her.”
Sophomore Anya Villanueva also lost today to Yumi Hasegawa from NAU 6-1, 6-2.
Coach Cañada said he would have liked to have seen a few more W’s but the Lobos got what they needed to get out of it and that was a lot of experience.
The Lobos will be on the road Oct. 3 for the Boise St. Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
