Thoughts on the game:
“We had 25 minutes of great soccer and 35 minutes of disappointment. We stopped doing the things that made us win that first half. We became overconfident. It was good to get a win, but we were lucky tonight. We need to be more mentally disciplined. Each game is a battle of mistakes, and if we want to be good, we can’t make the mistakes that we made in tonight’s game.”
“We had a couple injuries that helped them stretch the field. We didn’t have Simon, and Tierney was banged up a little, but it was good to get a win. Overall the game was disappointing.”
Senior Jack Smithson on his first goal of the season:
“There was a throw in by JD, then hit off a couple players and bounced right to me. I was just waiting for it and when it got there, I one-time-volleyed the ball in the back of the net.”
“In the first half we looked good, we were passing good with one-two touches and we were moving well. In the second half, we lost it.”
Freshman Michael Green on his first career goal:
“It is always good to get a win at home in front of your fans, and it was a great confidence booster to get a goal as a freshman.”
