The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team opened the lines of communication this past weekend as they participated in the Manzano Mountain Retreat High Ropes Course. The purpose of the Retreat is to build team trust, self-confidence, and respect for fellow teammates, activities that will all be beneficial for the 19th-ranked Lobos as they set to open the season this weekend at Loyola Marymount.

The Retreat includes a high and low rope course, which is used to build high and low elements of trust and communication. Men’s soccer coach Jeremey Fishbein had a positive reaction to the trip, and was enthusiastic about the outcome. “The purpose of the retreat was to get out of town and finish our pre-season with a positive note, ” coach Fishbein said. “We focused on working together in overcoming individual fear and challenging our comfort-zone. We wanted the team to be exposed. Our guys were supportive and really showed a sense of teamwork.”
