The University of New Mexico Department of Athletics has finalized a 6-year contract with NIKE that makes the global giant the exclusive supplier of athletic footwear, apparel and accessories to virtually every Lobo team through the 2013-14 academic year. Men’s golf is the lone exception.

“This is a landmark agreement for Lobo athletics,” said Paul Krebs, UNM’s Vice President for Athletics. “Having our teams affiliated with the pre-imminent industry leader provides a huge upside for our department. We are thrilled to be part of the NIKE family.”

“I have been involved with NIKE for 15 years and they were a big part of Lobo basketball last year,” said men’s head basketball coach Steve Alford. “When we came here, we knew NIKE was interested in getting more involved with UNM. I am very excited that NIKE now has a relationship with nearly every program in Lobo athletics.”

“The contract with NIKE is a real plus not only to our football program, but to the entire Lobo athletics department,” said UNM head football coach Rocky Long. “We look forward to a wonderful relationship in the coming years and beyond.”
