Former University of New Mexico baseball All-American Danny Ray Herrera made his Major League debut for the Cincinnati Reds tonight. He struck out two batters in one inning against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Herrera entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners on second and third, no outs and Cincy trailing 3-1. He got Shane Victorino to ground out to the shortstop before intentionally walking Chase Utley. He then struck out 2006 National League MVP Ryan Howard swining and Pat Burrell looking to end the inning.
Despite Herrera’s efforts, Cincinnati went on to lose the game 3-2. Here is complete coverage and stats from the game.
