Despite the dreary day, a superb crowd packed under a tent on the Lobo Tennis Center Court Thursday evening for the 2008-09 Super Celebration Round Up. The event celebrated the first time the Lobo Club Membership Drive had secured over $4,000,000 in pledges. In addition to the new overall record for total pledges ($4,026,019.66), the efforts of the 130+ volunteers established new marks for gift-in-kind ($1,613,539.55), members (3,007) and new money ($301,319.45).

Top honors for the evening went to former Lobo Football student-athlete Ryan Mummert (Veteran MVP) and Norm Burns (Andy Lujan Rookie MVP). Burns was also honored as the Membership Drive appointment to the Lobo Club Board of Directors while Victor Trujillo (10 years), Step Dobyns (20) and Gordon Noonan (20) were each recognized for their longstanding service to the Lobo Club Membership Drive. Bill Michael took home the coveted Lobo Bronze as the Spirit Award winner while the “Big List” winners were:
Top Producer – Yvonne Moise ($134,598.13)
Top Rookie Producer – Norm Burns ($10,502)
Top New Money – Lynn Mosher ($11,305.50)
Top New Money Rookie – Jeremy Lopez ($5,390)
Most New Members – Rita Flores (24)
Most Memberships – John Clark (132)

Top team honors went to Chris and Bill Cates’ Double Your Money squad with 119.5% of their goal in pledges. Other teams who met their goal include Susie Singer’s Seriously Spikin’ Scholars (110.2%), JC Lopez’s Grand $lammers (109%) and Linda Perkins Net Profiteers (109.4%).

Congratulations to all volunteers for an exceptional job throughout the Drive. Their efforts to raise funds for athletics scholarships are the foundation of all success enjoyed by Lobo Athletics.
