The first annual Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBALL hosted by the University of New Mexico Vice President for Athletics and men’s and women’s head basketball coaches netted $97,000 in proceeds for the American Cancer Society last weekend. Held on Saturday, May 3, at the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque, the event included dinner and dancing and was attended by over 200 supporters.
UNM Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs and his wife Marjori, men’s basketball head coach Steve Alford and his wife Tanya and women’s basketball head coach Don Flanagan and his wife Wahleah hosted and organized the event. Money was raised from ticket sales, sponsorship sales and the live and silent auctions that were a part of the evening.
