ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico Athletics Department and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce recently announced a new partnership to recognize top student-athletes who have excelled both in their sport and in the classroom.
The L.O.B.O Program (Leaders of Business Outreach) is a series of programs, workshops and classes that will serve as a real world supplement to their current classroom instruction.
On Monday, April 21, approximately 50 junior and senior student-athletes from a variety of sports participated in an Etiquette Dinner, coordinated by UNM Life Skills Coordinator Dr. Brian Smith.
The student-athletes learned about networking and relationship-building in a business dinner environment from Lonnie Talbert, Vice President for Operations of First Community Bank and Chair of the Chamber’s UNM Partnership Task Force, and Robin Brule, Executive Director of the CNM Foundation. Jenna Crabb, UNM’s Director of Career Services, walked the student-athletes and the Chamber of Commerce mentors through the etiquette of a business dinner.
