ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico football team opened 2008 spring practice Thursday and officially entered the 11th year under UNM head coach Rocky Long. The Lobos participated in two hours of spring drills during the first official workout but only wore helmets on the first day. The first half of practice was held inside the new indoor practice facility and the conclusion was played inside University Stadium.

The Lobos opened the spring with a lot of excitement and energy. UNM focused on specialty groups for most of the time but had some very intense 7-on-7 drills. The team came together for some full squad work a couple of times during the workout.

UNM will workout Friday from 3-5 p.m. and the Lobos are expected to go full pads on Saturday. All the practices are open to the public.
