HONOLULU, HAWAII— The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team collected its seventh win of the season (7-5) by handing The University of Hawaii its eleventh (0-11) straight loss. The Lobos won just their fifth doubles point in the 6-1 victory.

The Rainbow Wahine won at both the No. 1 singles and doubles spots but New Mexico was too much on the rest of the courts. Lobo sophomore Sandra Zmak won her ninth singles match in a row by defeating Chloe Bihag 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2. Mackenzie White won her second match of the month with a win over Julie Sandborn 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 hole.

Lucy Scott stayed undefeated in March, winning her fourth in a row. She used three sets to defeat Natasha Zorec 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11) at No. 4. Emma Hayman improved to 16-12 in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Marie Tanaka in the No. 5 spot. Jennifer Ryba rounded out the singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Jennifer Goldman.

In doubles, White paired with Maria Sotirchos to win at No. 2 against Zorec and Goldman, 9-8 (3). Ryba and Victoria Tessmar beat Sandborn and Tanaka 8-0 in the No. 3 hole.

The Lobos stay on the Island to face Nevada on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Hawaii Time. New Mexico closes out their non-conference schedule against San Diego on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Honolulu.
