Manhattan, Kan. — The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team extended its winning streak by beating No. 70 Kansas State 5-2 on the road. The Lobos improve to 6-4.

The Lobos jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking two doubles matches. Maria Sotirchos and Mackenzie White got things started with an 8-3 win over Natasha Vieira and Vanessa Cottin. Lucy Scott and Sandra Zmak gave New Mexico the lead with a 9-8 (7-2) victory over Katerina Kudlackova and Olga Klimova at the No. 1 spot.road. The Lobos improve to 6-4.

In singles, Zmak took the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) win at No. 2. Emma Hayman was next to finish with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Cottin. Jennifer Ryba gave the Lobos the win by defeating Vieira 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot.road. The Lobos improve to 6-4.

The Lobos finish the weekend in Lawrence, Kan., on Sunday against the Kansas Jayhawks.
