CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team, ranked No. 58, improved to 6-6 with a split in day one at the HEB Invitational at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi campus. They started the day by beating No. 61 South Alabama 4-1 then fell to No. 39 Texas Tech for the second time this season.

Graeme Kassautzki won both of his matches today to improve to 10-8 on the season. He beat South Alabama’s R. J. Nagel 6-4, 6-3 and Tech’s Ilya Babinciuc 6-4, 7-5.

Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski won the only complete doubles match the Lobos played today. They beat Jack Backer and Marek Sramek 8-2.

The Lobos improve to 6-6 on the season. New Mexico will play one more match in the final day of the HEB Invitational tomorrow.
