ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.– The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team, ranked No. 62, travels to Baton Rouge, La., for two matches this weekend. First the Lobos, 3-2, take on LSU, ranked No. 35, on Saturday at 11 a.m. MST. On Sunday, New Mexico and Louisiana-Lafayette battle at 10 a.m. MST.

LSU, ranked No. 35, is 3-2 overall. They are coming off a 6-1 loss to Texas A&M, which was ranked No. 27 at the time. The Lobos can even the series history with LSU with a victory on Saturday. The Tigers currently lead 2-1.

Louisiana-Lafayette comes in at 4-1 after defeating Arkansas-Little Rock 5-2 on Sunday. Ragin Cajuns will play two home matches on Saturday before facing the Lobos Sunday. New Mexico and Louisiana-Lafayette have not faced each other in the history of the two programs.

New Mexico is coming off a 7-0 victory over the Idaho Vandals last week. The Lobos won at both the No. 1 and 2 spots in doubles to go ahead 1-0 then swept the singles for the victory.

The final two non-conference home matches come against No. 49 Boise State to end February and No. 65 Western Michigan on March 2. The Lobos will be on the road for over a month before returning home for conference action on April 11.
