NASHVILLE, TENN. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team fell to Vanderbilt, 5-2, on the road Thursday. The Lobos have lost three in a row falling to 1-3 on the season.
Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski, ranked No. 48, won the first doubles match to finish 8-5 against Nick Cromydas and Evan Dufax in the No. 1 spot. Then Vanderbilt took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3.
In singles, Jones, ranked No. 35, finished with his second victory of the day winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 over Ryan Preston. Graeme Kassautzki beat Cromydas 6-3, 6-3 for the other Lobos point. Johnny Parkes took No. 79 Vijay Paul to three sets before falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
New Mexico finishes its road trip on Saturday against Middle Tennessee State at 1 p.m. Mst. The Lobos return home next weekend when they host three opponents in two days. The long weekend gets started with doubles against Northern Arizona on Friday at 10 a.m.
