ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico ski team will compete in the Western State Invitational, Feb. 1-2, in Crested Butte, Colo. Nordic races will begin each day at 10 a.m. at the Crested Butte Nordic Center, while the alpine competition will also begin at 10 a.m. each day at Mt. Crested Butte on the International and Championship runs.

The Lobos will be working to improve their fifth-place position in the RMISA team standings. UNM individuals will also be working to improve their RMISA MVP standings and NCAA qualifying points.

The Lobos currently have nine skiers ranked in the top 20 of the RMISA MVP standings – Christoffer Norrell (6th – men’s Alpine), Thomas Schwab (t9th – men’s Alpine), Tor Fodnesbergene (14th – men’s Alpine), Malin Hemmingsson (t7th – women’s Alpine), Amy Beresford (18th – women’s Alpine), Simon Reissmann (5th – men’s Nordic), Tor-Hakon Hellebostad (10th – men’s Nordic), Polina Ermoshina (t6th – women’s Nordic), and Melanie Zemp (20th – women’s Nordic).

The fourth and final RMISA meet leading into the NCAA Regionals will be the University of New Mexico Invitational on Feb. 8-9 at Taos and Red River, N.M.
