Nordic Lobos Headed To Colorado Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico ski team will complete the second half of the 14th Annual Laura Sharpe Flood Memorial Ski Meet, hosted by the University of Colorado, Jan. 19-20 in Winter Park, Colo.

The Alpine portion of the invitational was completed two weeks ago with the Lobos turning in a solid third-place performance, including three second-place finishes, two by sophomore Malin Hemmingsson in the women’s giant slalom and slalom, and by freshman Christoffer Norell in the men’s giant slalom.

The Nordic squad will compete in the men’s 10km and women’s 5km freestyle races on Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Competition will continue on Sunday, Jan. 20 with the women’s 10km and men’s 15km classic, also beginning at 9:30 a.m. All races will be held at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center.

The Lobos are looking to get back on track in Nordic competition after at tough week at Utah. New Mexico was sixth in Nordic races while struggling through a flu bug.
