The Lobos lose their second straight game, 71-62 at New
Mexico State…UNM has lost three straight to the Aggies in
Las Cruces
New Mexico falls to 7-2 while New Mexico State improves
to 4-6
New Mexico State picks up 1.5 points in the Rio Grande
Rivalry, and the season series is now tied at 4.5 points
apiece
The Lobos started the game 4 of 21 from the field, and
finished by making a season-low 38% (21-55)…Chad Toppert
and Jamaal Smith combined to hit 13 of 18 shots while the
rest of the Lobos were 8 of 37 (21%)
New Mexico State had a huge edge in rebounds, 44-28,
including 18-11 on the offensive end…the Aggies had a
22-10 advantage in Points in the Paint
Led by Toppert (20) and Smith (17), UNM’s bench scored
40 points compared to the starters’ 22…the Lobo starters
