The University of New Mexico swim team captured a second-place finish at the inaugural American Swimming Association Open Water Swimming Collegiate National Championships held in Lake Travis, Texas. Sophomore Bridget O’Hara led the Lobos in the 5-Kilometer race with a third-place finish and a final time of 59:50.7.

“It was a great experience,” said head coach Tracy Ljone. “It is a completely different type of race where you have to spot where you are going, and deal with water temperatures and conditions. The girls did such a great job.”

Three other Lobos finished in the top-ten. Senior Amina Adnan finished in fifth place (1:01:15.5), followed by Jaclyn Fedors in seventh place, and Nanette Wittenberg (1:03:28.7) in eighth (1:03:01.1).
