TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — University of New Mexico women’s tennis finished the Florida State Invitational winning more than half of their matches on the final day. Seven Lobos played consolation finals matches and four Lobos won their match.

Sandra Zmak, Ola Abou-Zekry, Jennifer Ryba and Victoria Tessmar all won consolation championships to each finish 2-1 in the tournament. Abou-Zekry beat F. Carrero 6-1, 6-4 from Jacksonville while Ryba won against Carrero’s teammate I. Jarasova 4-6 6-2 (4) in a tiebreaker. Tessmar beat M. Martinez from regional opponent Kansas 6-3, 6-1. Zmak got her second win against J. Zok from South Florida 6-0, 6-1.

The Lobos will have a break until 2008. On Jan. 18th they will host Vanderbilt followed by Colorado on the 19th. They will also play an exhibition match against Monterrey Tech from Mexico on Jan. 23rd. The men’s teams will play against each other at the same time.
