WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. — Sophomore Polina Ermoshina added another strong performance to her weekend at the Yellowstone Ski Festival on Saturday, Nov. 24, with a third-place finish in the 10-kilometer classic race. She was just 50.9 seconds behind the winner, Kristina Strandberg, a former NCAA champion for the Lobos.
“This was a great field of competition with some of the best skiers in the nation and the world participating,” said Lobo head coach Fredrik Landstedt. “Polina was just behind U.S. Ski team member Laura Valas (0.2 seconds) and beat out last year’s NCAA champions Lindsey Weier and Lindsey Williams from Northern Michigan.”
Melanie Zemp also competed for the women’s Nordic team, finishing 22nd overall at 2:11.2 behind Strandberg.
Representing the men’s squad, freshman Simon Reissmann placed 20th overall and fifth among collegiate competitors. Casey Dyck, his second day of competition, placed 39th overall, while Martin Kaas finished 48th.
The Lobo Nordic team will continue their trip in Montana with a mixed sprint relay on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
