WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. — The New Mexico Nordic Ski team is spending the holiday weekend participating in the Yellowstone Ski Festival. Sophomore Polina Ermoshina finished 11th overall in the women’s Super Tour sprint races on Friday afternoon, a quarterfinalist and fourth among collegiate competitors. Ermoshina ran in three cross country races for the Lobos this fall, including the 2007 Mountain West Conference championships.

“This was a very good performance for Polina,” said Lobo head coach Fredrik Landstedt. “It is an improvement from last year.”

On the men’s side, junior Casey Dyck finished 23rd overall, fifth among collegians, and junior Rick Grahn finished 53rd overall.

On Saturday, the student-athletes will compete in a classic race – 10k for the women, 15k for the men. Six racers are expected to compete, Ermoshina, Dyck, Crystin Jaques, Melanie Zemp, Martin Kaas, and Simon Reissmann.

The team will also compete in a mixed sprint relay (one man/one woman teams) on Wednesday, Nov. 28, before competition next weekend in Breckenridge, Colo.
