New Mexico Head Coach Rocky Long
“We won. Every win is a good win and maybe it’s a successful season, it depends on your attitude. Around here eight wins is a big deal. Hopefully eight wins won’t be a big deal around here, but when you look at the history of this program, eight wins is a big deal.”

“I was disappointed that we didn’t score more points, but it’s enough to win. I don’t care how you win they all count the same and there is not an ugly victory.”

“Our team is very realistic. Do they think that they deserve to go to a bowl game at 8-4? Sure they do. I think they deserve to go to a bowl game too. Is it going to happen? I don’t know. Nobody knows. There has been other deserving teams that were left at home in the past. I hope they get another chance to play. I think this is the best chemistry in a team that I’ve seen in the 10 years I’ve been here. This isn’t even close to our best team talent wise, but this is the best team we’ve had here because they play for each other. They do whatever they have to do and there are no egos.”

Head Coach Mike Sanford
“It was a tough end. A very hard, tough end to the season. Just looking at the game, we had our chances to win that game. We didn’t move the ball like we needed to move it on offense. I thought our defense gave up some big plays, but for the most part I thought they showed a lot of pride and determination, especially in the second half. We just didn’t execute on offense. We had a little bit of a thin roster and I think now we have to be looking forward to next year and I expect us to be a much better, much improved football team next year, and I expect to win next year.”

New Mexico Senior WR Marcus Smith
(On achieving an eight-win season):

“It’s huge. Starting the year we had high hopes. This is the result of aiming high. Our goal was to go undefeated and win the mountain west championship so ever week we came out expecting to win. If we didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot we could have put up a lot more points. For all the fans that came out, especially those who stayed through the game, we thank them. It means a lot to us seniors.”

(On his 63 yard touchdown reception):
“Coach Baldwin changed up the blocking and put the running back on the linebacker so he couldn’t come out on me early. I broke a tackle from the inside linebacker and I saw nothing but grass so I just put my head down and got to the end zone.”

New Mexico Junior CB Glover Quin
“I feel good. I actually feel like I contributed to help my team win this game. There have been a lot of games this season were I hadn’t had a lot of action and I hadn’t been able to contribute as much as I would have liked (due to a groin injury). I wasn’t so concerned about the interceptions, but more that I could help our team win and help the seniors go out with a win.”
