For the second year in a row, New Mexico beats Colorado State with a FG as time expired…last year Kenny Byrd’s 33-yard FG gave UNM a 20 19 victory in Fort Collins…today it was a 43-yard FG by John Sullivan It is the second time this season UNM has won a game on its final possession (SDSU 20-17 on 10/20) The last 14 regular season games between UNM and CSU have been decided by 10 points or less…the average winning margin over that span is 5.3 points New Mexico has won eight straight games decided by three points or less, including four in 2007 The Lobos have won four home games in one season for the first time since 2003 when they went 5-2 After going four straight games without a sack, Lobo had five today, giving them 14 on the season CSU had only one 3-and-out and it came on the Rams’ final possession of the game
