TULSA, OKLA. — University of New Mexico women’s tennis sophomore Sandra Zmak won both of her consolation singles matches at the ITA Regional Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. She beat Nebraska’s Amber Chandronnait (7-5, 6-4) and then Ele Carney from BYU (6-1, 6-1).
Lucy Scott won her first match of the consolation round against Northern Colorado’s Tabatha Knop (7-5, 6-3) but then lost to Jane Kryuchkova from Utah (6-2, 6-4).
Zmak and Carney also met up in doubles, Zmak paired up with Scott while Carney teamed up with Anatasia Syrkovg from BYU. Carney and Syrkovg just edged out the Lobo pair 9-7. Ola Abou-Zekry lost her singles match of the main draw to Anna Maria Constantinescu from Oklahoma (6-7, 6-3, 6-4) in three sets.
The tournament continues play tomorrow.
