ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico women’s tennis doubles pair of Maria Sotirchos and Mackenzie White won their first round match of the UNM Individual Invitational. Sotirchos and White defeated Sarah Cassman and Christen Monreal (8-1) from Air Force. Sotirchos and White will play Idaho’s Natalie Kirch and Laura Leoni on Saturday morning.
Emma Hayman and Jennifer Ryba also played doubles Thursday but fell to Northern Arizona’s Kim Van Ginkel and Leslie Vial (8-5) after winning the first set. The Lobos will play New Mexico State’s Aleksa Costa and Bianca Discordia on Saturday.
Singles rounds begin tomorrow (Fri.) with the first two rounds. Sotirchos, White, Hayman and Ryba will be joined by freshman Victoria Tessmar in singles. The first action starts at 9 a.m. inside the tennis bubbles.
