ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico women’s golf team travels to Palo Alto, Calif., this weekend to participate in the Stanford Intercollegiate. The 18-team field will play 18 holes each day on the 6,092 yard, par-71 Stanford Golf Course. Competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, followed by a 7:30 a.m. start on Sunday.
Of the 18 participating squads, 11 are ranked among the nation’s top-30 teams recognized in this week’s edition of the Golfweek rankings. That list includes No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Duke, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 8 Arizona and No. 10 Georgia.

Also competing this weekend are the following: No. 14 California, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Arkansas, No. 20 Pepperdine, No. 23 Texas and No. 28 New Mexico. Rounding out the field are Washington State, San Jose State, Oregon, Washington, UNLV and Oregon State.

The Lineup – New Mexico’s lineup for the Stanford Intercollegiate includes seniors Alexandra Phelps and Giselle Claux along with juniors Mikaela Backstedt and Py Bengtsson. Sophomore Jodi Ewart rounds out the lineup and has finished in the top 15 twice this season.

Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational – The Lobos are coming off a 12th place finish at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Oct. 8-10 and were led individually by sophomore Jodi Ewart. Ewart finished 15th at the tournament and is currently the 23rd-ranked player in the country.
