TULSA, Okla. — University of New Mexico women’s tennis sent three players to the ITA Fall Central Regional Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., and all three will play in the main draw.
Lucy Scott had to collect two wins to join her teammates Ola Abou-Zekry and Sandra Zmak. Scott’s first round match came against Christi Baxley from Oklahoma. Scott won the match 6-4, 6-1 to advance in the qualifying round. Next, Scott defeated Maria Martinez from Kansas (6-3, 6-1) to enter into the main draw.
Scott will face regionally eighth rank Ute Schnoy from Denver. Abou-Zekry, ranked 15, will match-up against Lauren Wilson from Air Force. Oklahoma State’s Yawna Allen will play Zmak in the first round Thursday. Zmak and Scott will play doubles also starting on Thursday.
