MIDLAND, TEXAS — University of New Mexico women’s tennis had to win their matches at the Collegiate Invitational to stay in Midland, Texas. Jennifer Ryba and Emma Hayman advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles but they fell to Pepperdine’s Bhargaba and Rice 8-5.

Freshman Victoria Tessmar was the only Lobo playing singles on Saturday. After losing a close first set she battle back to win the second against Kylie Adamek from LSU. The third set of the match was decided by a tie-breaker. Adamek won the tie-breaker and match, (7-6, 4-6, 10-6), ending Tessmar’s time in the tournament.

The Lobo women return home for the UNM Fall Individual Invitational (Oct. 18-21).
