Q & A With Jordan ScottQ & A With Jordan Scott

Sept 20, 2007

Senior Jordan Scott is a fifth-year punter who is in his second year as the starter after making his collegiate debut in 2006. Scott had not played in an official game since his senior year of high school (2002) before the `06 season opener and spent his first three seasons as the understudy to four-year starter Tyler Gaus. The Bellbrook, Ohio native has made significant improvement since 2004, increasing his distance and hang-time each year. Scott does an excellent job of limiting returns and punting within his coverage. He is also handling kickoff duties this fall and can be used on field goals if needed.

A redshirt in 2003, he paid his own way for three years before earning a scholarship in August of `06.

Scott is off to a fine start to the season, leading the nation’s 15th-ranked punting unit. He is averaging a career-best 41.2 yards on 17 punts, with a long of 55. He has kicked with excellent hang time throughout the year, helping the Lobos limit opponents to just 10 total return yards for a net punting average of 38.2. Scott has four punts of 50+ yards and has put eight kicks inside the 20, including two inside the 10, with just two rolling into the end zone.
