BOISE, IDAHO — University of New Mexico women’s tennis team had success on the courts during the first of three days at the Boise Fall Invitational. The Lobos won three out of four doubles matches and five of seven singles matches.

In doubles, Lucy Scott and Sandra Zmak beat Oregon’s Pojaska and Rolly (8-4). Maria Sotirchos and Emma Hayman also had success against an Oregon team, beating Seremeta and Cavan 8-5. Jennifer Ryba and Mackenzie White played Montana State’s Clark sister the Lobos won 8-0. Ola Abou-Zekry returned from an injury to team up with Victoria Tessmar but lost their first doubles match 8-5 against Maughan and Kryunshkova from Utah.

In singles, White won her first singles match of the season against Sjobhan Cavan (6-3, 6-2). Zmak, Hayman, and Tessmar also won their first round of singles. Ryba and Sotirchos each fell in their matches on day one.

Action will continue on Saturday (Oct. 6) at Boise State University.
