ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico women’s tennis team started the day winning three out of four doubles matches. Sandra Zmak and Lucy Scott, Victoria Tessmar and Jennifer Ryba, and Emma Hayman and Maria Sotirchos each won their first round double match. Mackenzie White, returning from an injury, teamed up with Ashley Bonner but fell in the first round 8-5.
Ryba and Sotirchos both won their first singles match. Scott, Zmak, Hayman, Tessmar and Bonner each lost their first round, with three of the five losses coming in three set matches. Scott, Zmak, Hayman, and Tessmar each won their second match of the day. Bonner will play her second match on Saturday (Sept. 22).
Action gets going with round two of all the doubles matches at 8 a.m. tomorrow at the Lobo Tennis Club.
