As the summer heats up so does the competition to fill spots on the offensive line. With one week to go in camp the offensive line is taking shape. The line returns three senior starters from last year’s squad, but first year offensive line coach Jason Lenzmeier will have new faces at both left tackle and right guard when New Mexico opens the 2007 season at UTEP on Sept. 1.

Vince Natali (6-2, 308) will anchor the line at center, Devin Clark (6-4, 312) returns at right tackle and Anthony Kilby (6-5, 332), a two-year starter at tackle, has switched to left guard. Senior Bart Miller (6-4, 295) and junior transfer Sylvester Hatten (6-3, 308) are looking to earn starting jobs at right guard and left tackle, respectively, and help the offensive line unit known as The Hitmen pave the way for a Mountain West Conference Championship.

Media Relations Assistant Daniel Archuleta caught up with the two starting hopefuls as well as coach Lenzmeier after a recent practice to get the latest news on the competition for the starting jobs.
