University of New Mexico golfer Alexandra Phelps shot a final round 67 to win the 64th annual Albuquerque City Women’s Amateur Golf Championship for the third time. Phelps, a senior-to-be at UNM, essentially lapped the field with a resounding 26-shot victory at the Santa Ana Golf Course.
Phelps followed rounds of 4-under 68 with a 5-under 67 to defend her title. She won the 54-hole event last year after shooting a 12-under 201.
The Albuquerque native will be one of two seniors on the roster for UNM in 2007-08. Phelps played in 10 tournaments last year, finishing 17th at the Stanford Intercollegiate Tournament last fall.
