ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico golfer Alexandra Phelps leads the 64th annual Albuquerque City Women’s Amateur Golf Championship by 14-shots heading into the finals Thursday at the Santa Ana Golf Course. Phelps carded rounds of 4-under 68 on Tuesday and Wednesday to take a commanding lead over field. Phelps looks to capture her third city championship and defended her 2006 title.
Phelps won the 54-hole event last year after shooting a 12-under 201. The Albuquerque, N.M., native will be one of two seniors on the roster for UNM this coming season. Phelps played in 10 tournaments finishing as high as 17th at the Stanford Intercollegiate Tournament last fall.
The finals are slated for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT Thursday.
