ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico women’s soccer players Shannon Adragna and Hannah Hand have been selected to attend the second phase of the U.S. National “B” Team Camp this weekend at the Home Depot Center in El Segundo, Calif. The Lobos are among the 36 top players from all regions from around the country to compete for the final 18 spots on the National “B” Team. The top 18 will travel to Mexico in the middle of July for international matches.
“We are really proud of Shannon and Hannah for getting these opportunities,” said UNM head coach Kit Vela. “Any extra competition against the best players in the country allows you become a better overall player. We look forward to having their experiences back with them in August and we wish them the best of luck.”
Adragna and Hand were invited to the U.S. National “B” Team camp earlier this month in Chula Vista, Calif., and were selected as two of the top player from Region 4. Region 4 has been noted as one of the top regions throughout the country.
Adragna started every game last year and was named second team All-Mountain West Conference as a sophomore. The Albuquerque, N.M., native recorded a 0.80 goals against average with 60 saves and six shutouts.
Hand returns to UNM as a junior forward that has the ability to make a major impact this fall. Hand played in 19 games as a sophomore scoring a goal and recording three assists.
