University of New Mexico two-sport star Lars Loeseth was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American At-Large First Team today. It is the this third Academic All-America honor for Loeseth, a two-year member of the Lobo men’s soccer team and a four-time All-American on the ski team.

Loeseth, who recently graduated with a degree in Finance from UNM, compiled a 3.92 grade-point-average in his four years at UNM. He came to New Mexico as a highly touted member of the Lobo ski team, guiding UNM to the 2004 NCAA Skiing Championship as a freshman, the first NCAA title in school history. As a junior, Loeseth was a major contributor on the 2005 NCAA runner-up men’s soccer squad and an All-American for the ski team that finished second at the 2006 NCAA Championships. Loeseth also was a part of two NCAA men’s slalom team champions in 2004 and 2006.

The 2007 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Men’s Skier of the Year, Loeseth’s six career Alpine wins are tied for the most in school history. He earned All-American honors at the 2007 NCAA Championships with a sixth place finish in the slalom and a fifth place showing in the giant slalom. He was also the No. 1 ranked giant slalom skier in the RMISA during the 2007 season.
