DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The 19th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team dropped to 22nd overall in the NCAA National Championships held today at the par 72, 6,351 yard LPGA International Legends Golf Course. The Lobos were 32-over par in the third round and will conclude the event Friday with the finals. Freshman Jodi Ewart leads UNM with an overall score of 15-over par and is currently tied for 54th.

Ewart (76-76-79=231) had the best round for New Mexico after carding a 7-over par 79. Junior Giselle Claux (74-81-80=235) is tied for 78th after shooting an 8-over par 80 in the third round and has a tournament total of 235. Junior Alexandra Phelps (78-77-81=236) is 20-over par after three rounds and was 9-over par in the round. Phelps enters the finals tied for 83rd. Sophomores Py Bengtsson (77-81-80=238) and Mikaela Backstedt (83-80-85=248) concluded the Lobos lineup. Bengtsson fired an 8-over par and is tied for 93rd. Backstedt is tied at 116 after scoring an 85 today.

Duke leads the tournament at 16-over par and has an eight shot lead over Purdue at 24-over par. UCLA is third in the event at 29-over par. Purdue’s Christel Boeljon remains the individual leader at 6-under par, with Paola Moreno from Southern California in second at 1-under par.
