ST. GEORGE, Utah — The 19th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team is tied for eighth at the NCAA West Regional held at the par 71, 6,234 yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Course. The Lobos are 42-over par after two rounds and were highlighted by freshman Jodi Ewart. Ewart carded a 4-over 75 and is currently tied for ninth individually to lead UNM.

Sophomore Py Bengtsson is tied for 48th after shooting an 8-over 79 in the second round. Bengtsson is a tournament total of 154 that includes her 4-over first round score. Junior Giselle Claux (76-79=155) was also 8-over par 79 on day two and is tied for 55th. Junior Alexandra Phelps (76-80=156) is 14-over par for the tournament and in 58th place after carding a 9-over par Friday. Sophomore Mikaela Backstedt is tied for 63rd after shooting two rounds of 8-over par 79.

UNM is tied for eighth overall at 42-over par and remain five shots behind Denver and three shots ahead of three schools at 45-over par.

Oklahoma State leads the event at 13-over par, while Stanford (+19) and Arizona State (+22) round out the top three. OSU’s Pernilla Lindberg leads the event individually by five strokes heading into the finals.
