COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two singles, two walks and a two-RBI double from Matt Foote in the top of the 11th led to five Lobo runs and a win for the New Mexico baseball team. The game, which was called at 6:50 p.m. last night after 10 innings due to darkness, was head coach Rich Alday’s 999th career win as his Lobos defeated Air Force, 17-13.

The Falcons flew to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as their first four batters reached base with singles. AFA’s starter, Alex Truesdale kept the Lobos off the board through the first three innings, allowing just one hit.

In the fourth the Lobos came alive, scoring 12 runs on 14 hits. Six consecutive batters reached twice in the inning. Jordan Pacheco doubled twice in the inning while Daniel Stovall, Matt Hibbitts, Ian Hollick and Jay Russell all singled twice.

Air Force never gave up, scoring two in the fourth, three in the sixth and four in the ninth to stay alive.

The Falcons also scored a run in the bottom of the 11th on two singles but Brandon Hewett clinched the game with his second strikeout of the inning.

New Mexico produced a season-high 22 hits with each starter recording at least two. Four Lobos, Pacheco, Stovall, Hibbitts and Russell all notched three hits. Foote drove in a team-high four runs for the second straight game while Hollick scored a team-leading three runs.

Scott Gracey, who also started the game at shortstop, earned the win, allowing just one run on one hit and one walks with a stikeout over 2.0 innings. Michael Ruvolo suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits and two walks in 1.0 inning of work.
