George Carter (football), Terryn Granados (women’s soccer) and Jen Hale (women’s swimming) have been honored as the inaugural Lobo Club Student-Athlete of the Year. The announcement was made April 4 during the Lobo Club Membership Drive Kickoff.
The Lobo Club Student-Athlete of the Year will be presented annually by the Lobo Club Board of Directors to deserving male and female student-athletes who show exemplary service to the community and carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point-average.
Carter is an Albuquerque High School alum currently holding a 3.18 GPA. A starting linebacker for the Lobos, Carter plans to graduate next month in just four years with a Marketing Management degree. He is active in the local community, volunteering his time as a mentor for at-risk teens, providing food and clothing to the homeless through New Hope Baptist Church and helping to revive the Black Student Union organization on the UNM campus. Carter will be a senior on the football team in 2007.
Granados, currently a junior with a 3.99 GPA, has participated in Reading with the Lobos and Albuquerque Youth Soccer Organization clinics. She has volunteered her time as a soccer referee and with the Habitat For Humanity program.

Hale has been active through UNM’s Spring Storm, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Student Lettermen’s Club, and has volunteered as the Literacy Night guest reader at Mark Twain Elementary. Hale will graduate in May with a degree in Business. She has a 3.4 GPA.
