SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Sophomore Graeme Kassautzki won at No. 3 doubles and No. 3 singles but it wasn’t enough to lead the 47th-ranked Lobos past the 52nd-ranked Aztecs as San Diego State won 6-1 on its home court.

The Lobos fell into behind early, dropping the doubles point for the fourth straight match. UNM fell 8-3 at No. 1 to 17th-ranked Markus Dickhardt and Christian Groh and lost 8-6 at No. 2. Junior Chris Parkes teamed with Kassautzki at No. 3, slipping past Juan and Anthony Gomez, 9-7.

The Aztecs were a point away from clinching the match after wins at No. 6 and 1, respectively. Kassautzki kept the Lobos alive with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Anthony Gomez.

San Diego State clinched its seventh straight victory with three-set wins at No. 2, 4 and 5, respectively. The win is SDSU’s third straight over UNM, cutting the all-time series lead for the Lobos to 23-18.

The Lobos conclude the weekend tomorrow, taking on 72nd-ranked Utah at 11 a.m. PT/noon MT.
