Malibu, Calif. – The No. 53 University of New Mexico women’s tennis team (7-6) finished its non-conference schedule with a 5-2 loss to the No. 26 Pepperdine Waves today at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California.

New Mexico dropped the doubles point to the No. 16 doubles team of Bianca Delgheru and Sylvia Kosakowski and the Waves. In singles play No. 92 Ola Abou-Zekry defeated her second ranked player of the weekend after a 6-0, 7-5 match to No. 94 Sylvia Kosakowski. Mackenzie White earned the second Lobo point at the No. 3 position with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Eva Dickes.

“Despite the fact that we didn’t get any wins this weekend, I’m really proud of our efforts,” said head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz. “It was good preparation for us as we head into conference play. We look strong and this weekend gave us good, quality practice to help us compete against our conference opponents.”

The Lobos will take the next week off before heading to Fort Worth, Texas to start their conference play. There, they take on TCU in an away match on March 30th and San Diego State April 1st in a neutral match.
