Tucson, Ariz. – The 49th ranked women’s tennis team suffered their third defeat since the loss of teammate Iva Gersic. No. 47 Tulsa defeated the Lobos in a 5-2 match bringing the UNM season record to 5-3.

New Mexico won two dual match points in the singles action from Ola Abou-Zekry and Nora Quintal. Abou-Zekry led the team at the No. 1 spot dominating her opponent, Lindsay Grimes in a 6-2, 6-2 match. Quintal won at the No. 6 spot after a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Julie Westfall. However the efforts weren’t quite enough to raise them over the Golden Hurricanes after losing the doubles point and Tulsa took the match 5-2.

The Lobos head back to Abluquerque next week to take on in-state rival New Mexico State Thursday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. and Sacramento State Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. at home in the Lobo Tennis Club. Come support your Lobos as they look to improve their season record!
