ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The 16th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team will participate in the UCF Challenge on March 5-6 in Orlando, Fla. The Lobos enter their second tournament of the spring after placing fifth at the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 26-27. UNM faces another tough field as they continue to prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championship on April 19-21. The Lobos are one of nine nationally-ranked programs in the 15-team event. The field is led by No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Pepperdine and No. 5 Vanderbilt.

The Course: The 2007 UCF Challenge will be held at The Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The 54-holes event is one of the nations toughest and will be played on a par 72-6,223 yard course.

The Field: The tournament field includes three teams in the Top 10 according to the recent Golfweek rankings and nine teams in the Top 25. The teams participating include, UCF, Duke, Georgia, Florida, Pepperdine, Alabama, Purdue, Vanderbilt, LSU, Miami, Kentucky, Arkansas, New Mexico, SMU, Ohio State.

The Lineup: UNM women’s golf travels five student-athletes to the UCF Challenge on March 5-6. The Lobos will go with the same lineup as last week that included freshman Jodi Ewart, sophomores Py Bengtsson and Mikaela Backstedt. UNM will also travel to upper classman in juniors Alexandra Phelps and Giselle Claux. Last week, Claux led the way with an 11th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational.
