The University of New Mexico ski team moved up one spot into sole possession of seventh place on the final day of the 2007 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships. The women’s Nordic team place second overall in their 10K classic race, behind a fifth place finish from freshman Polina Ermoshina.

Ermoshina crossed the finish line in 33:20.0 while Colorado’s Maria Gresvgaard won the race in 32:15.8. Two other Lobo women finished in the top-10 with sophomores Melanie Zemp and Crystin Jaques placing eighth and ninth, ,respectively. Junior Laura Van Alst also raced for New Mexico today, placing 25th.

The men skied a 15K classic race today and the Lobos were led by freshman Erlend Saetre’s 14th place finish. It was Saetre’s second best result of the season. Also racing for the Lobo men were sophomore Casey Dyck (32nd) and senior Jedd Young (34th).

The Lobos will now gear up for the 2007 NCAA Championships in Jackson, N.H., on March 7-10.
