EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomores Miles Bugby, Graeme Kassautzki and Johnny Parkes had successful outtings at the Oregon Classic this weekend. Parkes and Bugby teamed to win the doubles title while Kassautzki advanced to the finals of the Green Singles Draw before falling.

Parkes and Bugby, the draw’s top seed, downed Keithan Gregg and Kevin Erickson from Eastern Washington, 8-6, before edging out a tough pair from Portland (Filip Zivkovic and Colby Jager), 9-8. From their Parkes and Bugby cruised to the title, making quick work of another Portland duo (Joel Kincaid and Charles Yemm,8-2) in the semifinals and a tandem from the host school, Mike Myrhed and Gustavo Loza of Oregon, 8-3.

Kassautzki, the draw’s third seed, topped his first opponent, Eric Pickard of Portland, 7-6 (4), 7-5. He needed three sets to slide past the draw’s fifth seed (Sacramento State’s Xavier Barajas-Smith), 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-2. In the semifinals, Kassautzki won 6-3, 6-4 over Portland’s Alex Strom. In the finals, he fell to sixth-seeded Anton Stryhas of Sacramento State.

Parkes, seeded No. 1 in the Green Draw, defeated Eastern Washington’s Kyle Schraeder, 6-2, 6-4, in the second round and Sac State’s Gabriel Laredo, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Despite winning the first set 6-3, he fell in the semifinals, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, to Stryhas.

Bugby rallied from a first set loss in the opening round to Eastern Washington’s Pannhara Mam, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. He beat Sac State’s Warwick Foy, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round but fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the quarterfinals to Strom.

The Lobos are done for the fall season. They resume play Jan. 13-15 in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Purdue Individual Invitational.
