Boise, Idaho – The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team overtook Oregon and Boise State winning two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches today in a mock dual match at the Boise Invitational.
The Lobos started the day with doubles matches against Oregon, ranked 46 nationally in the 2006 season final rankings. Jennifer Ryba and Nora Quintal teamed up for a win against Seremeca and Powaska 8-6. Mackenzie White teamed with freshman Sandra Zmak for winning combination against Templeton and Hoz de Vila 8-4.
UNM looked strong in their singles play taking on Boise State winning all but two matches. Juniors Lucy Scott and Ryba both won their matches 6-2, 6-1 against Stacey Housley and Carolyn Berry. Ola Abou-Zekry added to those with a win against Polina Kokoulina 3-6, 6-1, 7-6. White finished off the wins with a victory against Laura Byron 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.
The Lobos continue play in their second day of the Boise Invitational tomorrow starting at nine in the morning and will continue all day.
