(on Wyoming in general):
“I think they are a very good football team that’s been playing pretty well almost the whole season. They’ve made a mistake or two in games that has cost them victories. They could be easily 5-0.”
“I think they’re physical. They have a couple of real good running backs. They have some quality wide receivers and both quarterbacks throw it pretty well. They’ve moved the ball effectively on everybody. They’ve made a mistake here or there that’s kept them from scoring enough points to win. They’re the second rated defense in our league and 12th rated defense in the country, so they’re a really good football team that’s just had a hard time because of a mistake or two that’s kept them from being 5-0.”
(on the advantages of Wyoming starting a different QB):
“I don’t think it gives anybody an advantage. We can’t watch him. We’ve only seen half a game film on him really. So we can’t gameplan specifically for their quarterback, but I don’t think they’re going to do a lot different with this quarterback than they did with the last quarterback. So I don’t think anybody has a real advantage. It’ll (depend on) which team executes the best.”
“We prepare for both quarterbacks. They’ve used the redshirt freshman quarterback (Karsten Sween) a couple times in other games in specific spots, so there’s a chance that both or either one of them could play.”
(on the Lobos’ offensive gameplan this week):
“We’d love to have a balanced attack. Most people we play will try to take one thing away or the other and obviously it’s up to the quarterbacks to check to the appropriate play according to the way the defense is lined up. If they don’t put an extra guy in the box, you hope you can run it effectively or nothing will work. They’re a very good defense. They’re very physical and they have played really good pass defense because they get good heat (on the quarterback) with just a four-man rush. So if you have any idea of moving the ball on them and scoring points, you’re going to have to run the ball effectively.”
(on New Mexico’s team confidence right now):
“I think we’re alright. Young football teams get over things pretty quickly. They get over wins pretty quickly and they get over losses pretty quickly. Normally a young football team really is excited and looks forward to the next opportunity to play ball.”
Junior Wide Receiver Travis Brown

“For us, it isn’t so much about it being homecoming as it is that we are going further into conference play with an 0-1 record. Conference play is the important part of the schedule and when we lost a game prior to that, it wasn’t as big a deal. We could recover from it, but now it’s crunch time. Playing a good Wyoming team, whose the number one pass defense in the nation, we’re going in with a different mindset this week.”
Junior Linebacker George Carter

(on the frustration of failing to put back-to-back wins together so far this year):
“You always are when you are in that situation. We played so well against UTEP and then last week, we just didn’t get the job done. It’s been frustrating and it messes with your mind a little bit.”
