COSTA MESA, Calif. – Lobo Junior Max Jones Advanced to the main draw of the USTA Futures event in Costa Mesa, Calif. yesterday but not before he played his way through some very good tennis players.
Jones was able to defeat the #15 seeded player in the second round in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 before moving on to the semi-final round against Drew Hoskins who he also handled 6-2, 6-2. Jones faced off against former UNLV star Joel Kielbowicz in the final round of the qualifying draw and took the former Rebel to three sets and won in a tie breaker 6-2 4-6 7-6(2) to advance on to the main draw. Jones will face off against 6th seeded Alberto Francis later today.
Lobos Kamil Pajkowski and Johnny Parkes both fell in the second round to end their run at joining jones in the main draw.
